Centurion Championship 2026

December 26, 2025

Dear Centurions,

We are ready to kick off a new and exciting year of challenges. We look back on 2025 with gratitude: your feedback has proven that our commitment to creating a rule set attentive to the community’s needs has paid off.

Being present during matches at the tables and discussing with you outside of them allowed us to process your observations and identify areas for improvement. Consequently, we have worked to increase the flexibility of those elements that struggled to adapt to both smaller and larger communities. What we present today is the consolidation of a now-mature project, refined through dialogue.

We therefore renew our invitation to keep this exchange vibrant. We are firmly convinced that our closeness to those who experience the format firsthand is our most powerful resource. Do not hesitate to contact us: every critique, idea, or suggestion is a fundamental building block in constructing the future of Centurion together.

Here is the project for 2026.

Summary of changes

Before analyzing each new feature in detail, this paragraph offers an initial summary of the main differences compared to the last championship. The aspects introduced here will be further explored in the dedicated sections, in order to provide a clearer and more structured overall overview.

The number of seasons, which marks the beginning and end of the leagues, remains unchanged. However, the start and end dates are changing to ensure everyone the necessary time to play an adequate number of tournaments.

The minimum number of events required for a league to be valid has been reduced to 8 total events.

A new scoring system has been introduced for leagues, aiming to find a balance between recognizing commitment and maintaining a fair experience, even for smaller communities or those with organizational difficulties.

Similarly, a new score attribution criterion has been adopted for Level 1 tournaments as well. The analysis of this year’s tournaments has led to the development of a system that awards points proportionally to the number of participating players.

To encourage competition, the number of Level 2 tournaments has been increased to 4 throughout the year. Consequently, the number of players qualifying for the POTY from each tournament also changes, going from 8 to 4, leaving the actual number of 16 participants qualified for the POTY via Level 2 tournaments unchanged. The rest of the top 8 will receive points to climb the national rankings. Finally, to facilitate the participation of players from the foreign circuit, the qualification slots via the international circuit have been revised: the first POTY slot is obtained after 4 tournaments, while subsequent ones are awarded every 3 tournaments.

How does the championship work?

When

The championship will kick off on January 1st, 2026.

The schedule has been revised based on last year’s experience, with the aim of creating a more balanced path that takes into account variations in player availability depending on the season. In particular, an extra month has been allocated to accommodate those who are busiest during the summer period.

First season: from January 1st to May 31st (instead of ending on June 30th).

Second season: from June 1st to November 22nd (instead of starting on July 1st).The championship will therefore end on November 22nd, slightly earlier than last year, in order to allow more time for management and the preparation of administrative procedures ahead of the POTY.

National leaderboard

The National Leaderboard, together with Level 2 tournaments, represents the primary qualification tool for the prestigious Player of the Year (POTY). This leaderboard connects all competitive circuit activities, offering a clear and continuous overview of player performance throughout the year. It is valid on a yearly basis and does not reset between seasons, establishing itself as a constant indicator of performance and excellence.

It is possible to accumulate points valid for the leaderboard by participating in:

  • Level 1 Tournaments
  • Level 2 Tournaments
  • Local Leagues: at the end of the season, players receive points based on their final placement in the league and the league’s participation.

Further details are available in the dedicated section.

At the end of the year, the top 16 players on the National Leaderboard will receive an exclusive invitation to the Player of the Year (POTY) tournament. The leaderboard is not only a recognition of individual skills, but also a tool that encourages constant participation and rewards commitment throughout the entire circuit, valuing the format’s top-performing players.

Leagues

Local Leagues play a central role within the competitive circuit. Any interested community can start an officially recognized League, provided the following minimum requirements are met:

  • At least 8 players for each event
  • A minimum of 8 total events during the season

Compared to last year, where scores varied based on participation tiers (8–16, 17–32, 33–64, over 64 players), a single and more linear system has been introduced. The new score consists of three elements:

  • Placement points based on the final placement according to the table presented in this paragraph.
  • Participant points, calculated according to the total number of players in the league. One point will be awarded for every 3 players, dividing the number of present players by 3 and always rounding down to the lower integer.
    For example
    • 16/3=5.33→5
    • 26/3=8.66→8
    • 30/3=10
  • Stage points, equal to double the number of events played.

The goal is to enhance both the results on the field and the size of the league and its continuity over time. For each placement (from 1st to 8th) points are awarded as follows:

PlacementPlacement pointsParticipant PointsParticipant Points
1st place44 points+ 1 extra point every 3 participants+ number of events x 2
2nd place30 points+ 1 extra point every 3 participants+ number of events x 2
3rd place24 points+ 1 extra point every 3 participants+ number of events x 2
4th place20 points+ 1 extra point every 3 participants+ number of events x 2
5th place14 points+ 1 extra point every 3 participants+ number of events x 2
6th place10 points+ 1 extra point every 3 participants+ number of events x 2
7th place8 points+ 1 extra point every 3 participants+ number of events x 2
8th place6 points+ 1 extra point every 3 participants+ number of events x 2
LEAGUE – Example with 20 Total Players and 8 Stages Played

7th place8 points+ 6 points+ 16 points8 + 6 + 16 = 30
8th place6 points+ 6 points+ 16 points6 + 6 + 16 = 28
LEAGUE – Example with 60 Total Players and 16 Stages Played
PlacementPlacement pointsParticipant PointsStage PointsTotal Points
1st place44 points+ 1 extra point every 3 participants = 60/3 = 20 points+ 2 points every event played = 32 points44 + 20 + 32 = 96
2nd place30 points+ 20 points+ 32 points30 + 20 + 32 = 82
3rd place24 points+ 20 points+ 32 points24 + 20 + 32 = 76
4th place20 points+ 20 points+ 32 points20 + 20 + 32 = 72
5th place14 points+ 20 points+ 32 points14 + 20 + 32 = 66
6th place10 points+ 20 points+ 32 points10 + 20 + 32 = 62
7th place8 points+ 20 points+ 32 points8 + 20 + 32 = 60
8th place6 points+ 20 points+ 32 points6 + 20 + 32 = 58

This system ensures a proportional and meritocratic assessment, rewarding both individual performance and organizational commitment as well as the overall participation of the league. In addition to these points, every league participant, not just the top 8 players, will obtain 2 participation bonus points.

Any community that meets the requirements can request to join the circuit. The seasonal entry fee for a League is €1 for each unique participating player, regardless of the number of events played. The entire amount of fees will be allocated to increase the POTY prize pool.

To facilitate organization, we ask every interested community to contact us and designate a community representative, who will be added to our Coordinator Staff. This contact person will be the point of reference to promote, coordinate, and manage the League, as well as to ensure compliance with the requirements.

Each event, to be considered valid within the circuit, must be accompanied by a report published in the official Centurion Facebook group. To simplify this process, the representative will receive a personalized spreadsheet, which:

  • automatically inserts players into the national leaderboard without any further steps;
  • provides a report ready for publication on Facebook without additional steps.

Level 1

Level 1 tournaments are designed to encourage players to step out of their local scene and compete against players from all over Italy. They represent an important opportunity to put oneself to the test and climb the National Ranking, thanks to a scoring system that values the best results.

Compared to the past, points are no longer assigned via participation tiers (8–16, 17–32, 33–64, over 64 players). Similarly to what happens for Leagues, a single and more linear system has been introduced.

The score, assigned to players ranked from 1st to 8th place, is composed of:

  • Placement points, determined by the final placement
  • Extra participant points, calculated based on the total number of players present at the tournament. One point will be awarded for every 2 participants, dividing the number of players present by 2 and always rounding down to the lower integer value.

For example:

  • 17/2=8.5 -> 8
  • 29/2=14.5 -> 14
  • 40/2=20

For each placement (from 1st to 8th) the following are then awarded:

PlacementPlacement pointsParticipant Points
1st place22 points+ 1 extra point every 2 participants
2nd place15 points+ 1 extra point every 2 participants
3rd place12 points+ 1 extra point every 2 participants
4th place10 points+ 1 extra point every 2 participants
5th place7 points+ 1 extra point every 2 participants
6th place5 points+ 1 extra point every 2 participants
7th place4 points+ 1 extra point every 2 participants
8th place3 points+ 1 extra point every 2 participants
LVL 1 – Example with 10 total players

4th place10 points+ 5 points10 + 5 = 15
5th place7 points+ 5 points7 + 5 = 12
6th place5 points+ 5 points5 + 5 = 10
7th place4 points+ 5 points4 + 5 = 9
8th place3 points+ 5 points3 + 5 = 8
LVL 1 – Example with 51 total players
PlacementPlacement pointsParticipant pointsTotal points
1st place22 points+ 1 extra point every 2 participants = 51/2 = 25.5 → 2522 + 25 = 47
2nd place15 points+ 25 points15 + 25 = 40
3rd place12 points+ 25 points12 + 25 = 37
4th place10 points+ 25 points10 + 25 = 35
5th place7 points+ 25 points7 + 25 = 32
6th place5 points+ 25 points5 + 25 = 30
7th place4 points+ 25 points4 + 25 = 29
8th place3 points+ 25 points3 + 25 = 28

In addition to these points, every participant, not just the top 8 players, will obtain 2 bonus participation points.

Any entity interested in organizing a Level 1 tournament must contact us privately for approval and inclusion in the official calendar. This step is fundamental to:

  • avoid event overlaps,
  • ensure a balanced geographical distribution,
  • allow for adequate promotion of the tournaments.

For every player participating in a Level 1 tournament, a €1 contribution is required, which will go entirely into the POTY prize pool.

Finally, for the event to be considered valid within the circuit, an official report must be published in the Centurion Facebook group. To facilitate this procedure, the organizer (or their delegate) will receive a customized spreadsheet: once the tournament ranking is filled in, the report will be generated automatically and can be copied and pasted directly into the Facebook group.

Level 2

Level 2 tournaments represent a fundamental element of the competitive circuit, designed to offer high-level challenges and a highly competitive environment. These events allow players to qualify directly for the POTY, guaranteeing an alternative path compared to the national ranking. Participating in a Level 2 is the ideal opportunity to prove one’s worth against the best and gain access to the POTY, experiencing an immersive and prestigious gaming experience.

There will be four Level 2 tournaments and, from each of them, the top 4 players will obtain the qualification for the POTY.

The remaining players in the top (5th to 8th place) will earn points for the national ranking according to Level 1 criteria, as illustrated below:

1st- 4th placePOTY invite
PointsParticipant points
5th place7 points+ 1 extra point every 2 participants
6th place5 points+ 1 extra point every 2 participants
7th place4 points+ 1 extra point every 2 participants
8th place3 points+ 1 extra point every 2 participants

Players participating in these tournaments will receive 2 participation points regardless of their ranking position.

The organization, dates, and locations are still being finalized, but to facilitate scheduling, we communicate the current proposals below, which may be subject to change:

  • April – Genoa
  • June – Central Italy (TBD)
  • September – Albissola Comics
  • November – Turin

International championship

To make our competitive circuit more inclusive and offer foreign communities the possibility to participate in the championship, last year we introduced a system dedicated to players outside of Italy which allowed us to have welcome guests from the Czech Republic at our closing celebration.

Again this year, for every nation with communities interested in taking part in the circuit, a national ranking distinct from the Italian one will be created. Players will be able to accumulate points and qualify for the Player of the Year (POTY) following the same rules and point tables valid for Italy, through:

  • Officially recognized leagues
  • Level 1 Tournaments

Participating nations will have reserved extra slots for the POTY, which will be added to the 32 already planned for Italian players. The slots will be assigned according to the following criteria:

  • 1 extra slot for every concluded league, provided that at least one season has been completed respecting the regulation criteria.
  • 1 extra slot after the first 4 Level 1 tournaments organized in that nation, and 1 extra slot for every 3 subsequent Level 1 tournaments (e.g., at the 7th tournament, at the 10th tournament, etc.).

International communities interested in joining the circuit can contact us directly. For the creation of leagues and national leaderboard, the same criteria of the regulation presented up to this point will be adopted, with potential adaptations and changes agreed upon to meet specific local needs.

Final event

The two-day structure continues to be appreciated by players and for this year it will be confirmed again, offering an event that is not just a competition, but also a moment of celebration for the format and our community.

The POTY (Player of the Year) will be reserved for 32 centurions (plus any foreign slots) who have demonstrated their worth during the year, who will contend for the title of best player and the coveted prize.

Qualification:

  • 16 players from the Top 4 of Level 2 tournaments;
  • 16 players from the national ranking (leagues + Level 1 + Level 2);
  • Players qualified via the International championship.

Management of overlaps and possible ranking ties:

  • If a player in the national ranking is already qualified via Level 2, the invitation will be assigned to the first player not yet qualified in the national ranking.
  • If a previously qualified player obtains a new invitation via Level 2, the invitation will pass to the player not yet qualified positioned highest starting from the 5th place of the tournament standings, after the Swiss rounds and before the Top 8.
  • In case the last available position for qualification sees 2 players with equal scores, both will receive the invitation to take part in the POTY.
  • If a qualified player cannot participate in the POTY (to be communicated by the end of the second season), the invitation will pass down starting from the 17th position to the next available player.

Second Day: National Tournament

The second day will be dedicated to the National Tournament, open to all players without restrictions. Whether you are a veteran or a new enthusiast, you can participate, test yourself, and compete for the title.
