Centurions,
As you know, a new Committee has recently been established, with fellow members leaving the service and new ones being introduced. We decided to follow up with the same approach, starting from where they left off. In our last announcement, we showed you the direction we believe the format should take: our main goal is to test, in practice, some powerful cards again, treating them as experimental changes. We are aware that this may lead to a very high-power field, but the game design itself is going in that direction: the most recent cards are often just strictly better versions of the ones we used to enjoy playing. That being said, we are always open to go back in case some decisions proved to be problematic, which so far hasn’t be the case. We deeply thank you for enjoying the format and we wish you countless hours of good and fun games playing the game we love.
Shields up!

Field of the Dead
Field of the Dead has been in the banlist for a long time, when Lands was a well established archetype and the format was significantly slower. Not even the unbanning of Omnath, Locus of Creation, once a boogeyman, has been able to really revive ramp strategies.
The increased speed of the game and the ever-increasing power level of the cards are making the late-game inevitability, where this card shines the most, less of a concern. Field of the Dead often doesn’t produce significant value until that very moment of the game, which we believe may not be enough to disrupt today’s fastest strategies.
For these reasons, Field of The Dead is no longer banned.

Dig Through Time
As we stated regarding Out of Time’s recent unban, control is no longer the dominant archetype in the format. Creature-based decks, as of today, are way more resilient and able to fight the typical blue play patterns than they were before.
In addition, cards like Stock Up and Consult the Star Charts now exist, making Dig Through Time less of a unique card in terms of card selection and efficiency. Despite this card being still stronger than the aforementioned, it suffers graveyard hate, which is very present in almost every deck.
Often compared to Treasure Cruise due to this powerful delve mechanic, we believe that Dig Through Time is a safer unban than its “sister card”, acting as a more costly instant-speed tutor rather than raw card draw. Dig Through Time is considered to be ideal in control or combo decks, while Treasure Cruise would be a powerhouse also in tempo strategies, being a sorcery-speed Ancestral Recall in most cases.
For these reasons, Dig Through Time is no longer banned.
